The urn compartment is accessed from the bottom by removing the base, placing the ashes inside, and then re-securing the base with the four screws.
 
The Cardinal Wooden Urn with Handmade Tile can be kept at home on a bookshelf, table, or mantel. Alternatively it can be placed in a columbarium niche or buried in the ground according to the family's wishes. An urn vault may be required by the cemetery for ground burial (each cemetery has its own regulations).
